work by the Children’s Museum

of Pittsburgh Staff

October 7 - December 10, 2017

Guest Curator: PJ Zimmerlink

PJ Zimmerlink is an artist and is currently the art collection curator at the Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh. Born and raised in Greensburg Pa but has roots that run deep in Fayette County Pennsylvania, his family is from Allison Pa.

“Working at the Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh prompted my concept for this exhibition. The majority of employees at the Children’s Museum are creative people and their avocation and vocation blend together. I wanted to highlight these artists and show the work they make and pervades all aspects of their lives.”

Artworks will include a variety of styles and media.

The public is invited, free admission and free parking. The exhibition is appropriate for all ages.

Members of the Uniontown Art Club have joined forces with the Valley Art Club to create the newest show at the Frank L. Melega Art Museum titled “Creative Alliance”. Artworks will include a variety of styles and media, paintings, drawings, printmaking, photography, sculpture, and more.

The exhibition illustrates that Southwestern Pennsylvania’s growing art scene is not only in Pittsburgh, but also in the surrounding communities. The Valley Art Club’s roots go back to 1941 and according to the club’s Facebook page their mission is to promote art, cultural appreciation and the beauty of our valley (Monongahela Valley). The Uniontown Art Club was founded in 1927. Club president, Pete Pasqua, offers an open invitation on the UAC website, uniontownartclub.org, for area artists to become members. Both organizations have group shows, sales, special events, and juried exhibitions. “Group shows generate a lot of interest and with these two art clubs I am certain we will have a great opening reception” stated museum director Patrick Daugherty. The Melega Art Museum is geographically located between the two clubs making it the perfect venue for a group show. Many of the artworks will be for sale providing a wide range of prices. A portion of the sale helps support the museum.
