In conjunction with the National Road Festival, the Frank L. Melega Art Museum presents 2022 Artist of the Pike exhibition by photographer Stephen Beckman titled “Everytown Has a Story... Some Need to be Told".
The photographic exhibit will highlight Brownsville's historic past and ongoing revitalization through the lens of Stephen Beckman. Stephen is full-time executive and photographer, and who is personally invested into the renewal of Brownsville through several projects in the community. “It is a great privilege to be selected 2022 Artist of the PIke. My exhibition will tell the story of Brownsville through my images and efforts to as many people as possible,” Beckman said. The exhibit will have two components, first looking at the comparison of historic and current images of the town as well as pictural journey of saving and revitalizing the Maria's Lover House (a primary film location for Maria's Lovers, a post WWII period film released 1984) into an Airbnb.

A “meet the artist” reception is scheduled for Saturday, May 21 from noon until 4:00 PM. Frank R. Melega (son of Frank L. Melega) will conduct tours of the museum from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM. The exhibition is open from noon to 4:00 PM. Free to the public. Free parking. Light refreshments will be served. Please join us!
