In honor of Polish American Heritage Month, the Frank L. Melega Art Museum welcomes legendary artist of the Polish artforms Joseph Borytsky. Mr. Borytsky has worked in various mediums including oils, watercolors, pastels and calligraphy. For the past fifteen years he has concentrated on his ethnic background and has found a new focus on the traditional Polish artforms. The artist’s goal is to create, revitalize, and preserve Polish art including Szopki (shop-key), Wycinanki (vee-chee-non-kee), paper cutting, wax drop and pull Pysanki (pee-son-kee) egg decoration.
This accomplished artist has exhibited at the Andy Warhol Museum, University of Pittsburgh’s Cathedral of Learning, National Czech and Slovak Museum, the Pope John Paul II Cultural Center, to name a few.
