Overview
The museum features the artist's many styles, media, and subjects explored during Frank L. Melega’s prolific and long career. Included are oil paintings, acrylics, watercolors, gouache, mixed media, drawings, sculpture, mosaics, and advertising art.
A portion of Melega’s studio has been recreated using the actual furnishings, books, desk, chair, brushes and other items used by the artist. Although he is most famous for his depictions of the Coal and Coke Era, other artworks include portraits, landscapes, cityscapes, abstracts, impressionism, signs, illustrations, and scenes of family life.
From fifty to eighty pieces of Mr. Melega’s artwork are on display at any given time. Artworks are in rotation throughout the year highlighting different aspects of Melega’s prolific career.
The museum collection is a home for art, local history, and community pride.
